What to do if you find yourself in an emergency situation
If after your discussion with the person you are still concerned for their safety, stay with them and call 999 (UK and Ireland) or 000 (Australia) for an ambulance.
If after your discussion with the person you are still concerned for the safety of others (e.g., that the person cannot care for dependents or may hurt or endanger the life of someone else, call 999 (UK and Ireland) or 000 (Australia) and ask for the police to help. You might feel concerned about getting someone in trouble, but it's important to put everyone’s safety first.
If the person shows signs of a serious life threatening medical condition (e.g., numbness, changes in cardiac function, chest pains, dizziness, occult blood). Do not delay and call 999 (UK and Ireland) or 000 (Australia) for an ambulance.
